This was a completely custom new build home set on a hill with an amazing view of the surrounding landscape. The owners had a local architect draw the plans for a contemporary home with the design and layout to maximize the view. The space needed to include a lower garage under the home for the owners cars, a large kitchen and dining room for entertaining as well as a loft for the grandkids to play in.
To create a large living and master bedroom space that is functional and aesthetically pleasing while keeping the view as the main focus. The finishes and fixtures in the home should compliment the exterior landscape and not distract or compete with the view.
The end result was finishes and fixtures that were simple, timeless and good quality that stand apart on their own but don’t compete with the view. White oak floors and expansive ceilings keep the room airy and light, while a contrasting stained cedar ceiling ground the space. A large fireplace along the back wall is the only architectural element interrupting the view. This meant the only place for a TV was above the fireplace. The end result was finishes and fixtures that were simple, timeless and good quality that stand apart on their own but don’t compete with the view. In the master bathroom we installed the vanity along the wall facing the view. This was with the intention that one stands at a vanity for long periods of time and the expansive view would be an amazing backdrop. To keep the vanity functional we installed ceiling hung mirrors with LED lighting. This project was completed in 2019.
