Built in the late 1980s, the home had great bones, but lacked the character and warmth found in older homes. With builder-grade finishes and minimal architectural detail, the spaces felt uninspired and disconnected. The goal was to create a sense of history—introducing depth, texture, and timeless design elements that made the home feel like it had evolved over time.
While structurally sound, the home needed thoughtful updates to bring it to life. Flat drywall, basic trim, and an abundance of beige left the interiors feeling bland, but also provided the perfect blank canvas for creativity to flourish. By layering in rich materials, classic finishes, and a more cohesive palette, the house could take on a collected, storied feel—one that honoured traditional design while remaining fresh and functional.
Throughout the home, paneling and moulding was introduced to add architectural interest, instantly elevating the spaces with depth and detail. Rich and moody colours were chosen to unify multiple rooms, grounding the design and creating a sense of cohesion.
The project focused on intentional, high-impact changes that transformed the home’s atmosphere. What was once a typical late-'80s build is now a space full of character, where every detail feels considered, layered, and perfectly at home.
